A PLACE WHERE TIME STOPS
Lofts & Rosegold Residential Quarter is a vivid example of the interaction of the architectural art of the two different eons, the interaction in which the old building acts as a precious gem and the new one takes the role of a luxurious setting of “pink gold” putting emphasis on the beauty of Lofts.
By creating the examples of modern architecture, which may become art monuments of the 21st century in the future, we cherish the history of the city, so we keep the pristine view of the Lofts building designed in the solemn Neo-Renaissance style. The Lofts building with its brick façade decorated with pilasters, half-round arching floor-to-ceiling windows and decorative recesses, and with apartments’ ceiling height of 5 and 6 metres will be the only example of “loft” housing in its pure form existing in the quiet centre of Riga.
For the gem’s setting, we have chosen pink gold because it is a luxurious and warm metal that allows us to reveal the mystical properties of the stone it is coupled with. The Rosegold residential building has 70 apartments with terraces, balconies or own territory. As if the Rosegold building is protecting Lofts and emphasising its beauty, with bay windows and protruding geometry of upper floors carefully framing the loft building.
INTERIORS OF PUBLIC HALLS
Modern design, sections of walls built from the handmade bricks of the 19th century, background music, the displacement of time and centuries, and the understanding that there’s no need to go anywhere from here, and the most important thing is that you don’t have to because you’re home - this will be the biggest gift to the quarter’s inhabitants.
The quarter’s interior will be imbued with the main idea: joining the two buildings together in a single structure. Thank God we have 23 pallets of bricks remaining from the dismantling of buildings on the site, but that represented no cultural value to be preserved for our future generations. The heart of Lofts&Rosegold will be the main lobby hall of a building with a floor area of 220 m2, a ceiling height of 4.20 meters, a three-meter-long fireplace, and a glass roof. In the cold winter evening, summer August starry night, Rosegolden autumn or blooming spring it will be-come the centre of attraction and the centre of communication of the quarter’s inhabitants, and perhaps cultural life as well because its size will allow that.
